I must admit I laugh a little when I see this brand – I like the bit of Norwegian on the front. Biff!!! Smak!!! Sounds like the old Batman TV show! Well, Let me whip out my Bat ramen pot and cook this stuff up.
Red oil – I think a good sign!
Looks nice as it awaits the soup and noodles…
Here’s the Biff Smak (click image to enlarge) ! Wham bam! Wow – this stuff is tasty nice. The noodles are nice – not the best in the world but they have a bit of fortitude to them. The broth is slightly thick and has a slight spiciness and really hits the spot for a lunch meal. Also, a lot of noodles here – they pack em tightly. I’m giving this one a 3.75 out of 5.0 stars! Good stuff! Get it here.
Bean thread huh? Hmm – not always my favorite. It tends to be gloppy, mucky stuff that kind of congeals together.
Two packets – powder and oil – smelled like a light sesame oil.
Very light colored seasonings awaiting the boiling nature of bean thread in 3 minutes of pain.
Click image to enlarge. Well, not too much positive to report on this one! Tjhe bean thread was its standard gloppy and funky way. I don’t like it. No vegetables here unless a couple green pieces of something floating around count. The flavor was kind of neutral to me; shrimp? Not extremely. So here’s the score: 1.5 out of 5.0 – just not something I liked. Get it here.
Swore I’d reviewed this before. Well, here’s one from Unif.
From left going clockwise, veggies, powder soup base and oily thick stuff.
Some nice colors here…
Click image to enlarge. I thought an egg would be nice here. Well, it was! A little nip of spiciness to the broth was nice. The veggies were ample and inflated well. The noodles were great and the egg bound it all up nice. I liked it! 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.
So here’s a big sucka. Got about ten different ones to try here. This should be interesting stuff. First off, spicy beef!
Clockwise from top left: powdered soup base, fork, veggies, seasoned oil.
Left to right: veg, seasoned oil and powdered soup base.
Click image to enlarge. Here we are. The noodles aren’t bad – very much like what you’d find in a bag of noodles you’d boil on the stove. The veg seemed to hide a bit; a characteristic I see kind of regularly and find a little annoying about big bowl noodles… The broth is quite tasty and has a nice level of spicy flavor and was beefy. My only complaint here is that I can’t figure out how much water to add; it’s not mentioned in the ingredients and there’s no fill line. So I added boiling water up to where it covered the noodles and I’m figuring that was the right amount. Decent stuff! 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.
Some shrimp ramen – looked interesting and furong sounded weird so why not.
Veggies and oil and powder – a lot of powder!
Lookit all that powder!
Click image to enlarge. An enjoyable bowl, although I don’t really think shrimp was a flavor I detected. Some of the veggies ended up crunchy. I wonder if this may have been any better if the oil sachet was absent. I’ve noticed the oil seems a little funky to my taste buds with these Unif 100’s so maybe I’ll try it sans oil next time.
Well, I’m giving it a 3.0 out of 5.0 – overall a good bowl of noodles. Noodles were hearty, veggies crisped once in a while and broth was decent.

Jeez these things are big enough… I wasn’t able to finish the last one! So here e go with some stewed pork chop! Interesting – don’t those meat cuts on the label look like ribs? I’m just sayin’…
From left to right: soup base powder, seasoned oil, fork, veggies.
A colorful pile of veggies, a powdery pile of base and in between the funk of all funky seasoning oil goo.
Click image to enlarge. Finished product. So the noodles aren’t bad… The veggies seem a bit more easily found than last time too. The broth is hearty and greasy. Not bad stuff – I think it could be a little better with broad rice noodles. I’m giving it a 3.5 out of 5.0 stars.
So this is the third and final Super Bow. I do have a couple more of the Unif brand ones I think so those will be next! Anyways, here we go with Artificial Pickled Chilli Beef flavor!
From left to right we have a shiny, almost mirror like packet of soup base, then a packet of veggies, then a fine fork, and last but not least, the packet of seasoned oil.
Topmost is the veggies, then the seasoned oil and lower we have the seasoning soup base. Sometime the seasoned oil is more liquidy – that, in my experience, has had to do with the temperature.
Click image to enlarge. Bam a lam. So Again we can see here that sunken veggie syndrome has taken hold. Isn’t it kind of surprising that with all that stuff in those packets that there’s really no visual evidence that there’s much more than unseasoned noodles than a couple flecks of veg on the rim of the bowl? Anyways, this stuff was spicy – really spicy. It ddfinitely lived up to its chilli name and also had a nice taste of ginger going on. Beef? Yeah kinda. The noodles were okay and the broth was greasy. The Veggies were there but not abundant of course until you got to the dregs of the bowl. Not too bad, not super awesome. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars.
So here’s some Unif Shrimp Fish… What’s funny is that I have had the Super Bowl’s lately and they looked exactly the same as this, but this one doesn’t say Super Bowl on it so go figure.
From left to right: soup base powder, seasoning oil, vegetables.
From left to right: seasoned oil, veggies and soup base powder atop the noodle block. Added some boiling water and…
Click image to enlarge. This one was interesting since the veggies didn’t hide so much – I like that! The noodles are exactly what you’d expect. The broth is nice and seafoody and the veggies run rampant and are more than adequate. I like it a lot! 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.
I’ve reviewed a ton of the Unif noodles, but it’s been quite a while. Here’s a Unif rice noodle – Chinese onion.
Two packets – powdered seasoning and seasoned oil.
I got a little of the oil on my finger – boy is it pungent stuff! Had an almost putrid strong smell.
Click image to enlarge. I was expecting these noodles to be a little slimy and clumpy, but they were not. The broth is salty and very onionny. It’s not bad stuff, and worth having again if you are a crazed cultist of the church of onion. Like Funyun stew. 2.75 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.
Wow look at this one – all purple and yellow… Very different looking than anything I’ve seen yet. And the flavor – beef and sauerkraut? I wonder if it’s going to be any good? Well, let’s have at it!
So purple packet must be the sauerkraut, next to it would be the seasoned oil and below the powder seasoning. A fork! I did a mention of this one before in the special fork report so no need to do it again.
Would you look at that – kind of scary eh? Time to add boiling water and give ‘er a try…
Click image to enlarge. Here we are. So first off, it’s spicy and I really did not expect that at all. Strong cabbage taste – that’s what sauerkraut is so logical… The broth is salty and kind of a beef taste but reminds me slightly of bad milk. The noodles aren’t bad but unimpressive. Hmm. I’m still a little moved by the interesting nature of these noodles. It’s a very very different flavor that’s for sure. Despite some weirdness, it’s strangely addicting and is getting 3.75 stars out of 5.0. It’s definitely worth checking out!
After spending a few days on it, here’s the list. If you have anything you think should be added, please let me know – II’d love to make this the most complete list on the Internet of instant noodle information! You can find it in a tab on top of the site as well.
Are you ready for the Man Han Feast???! I suppose I am! Wow – what an interesting bowl of noodles – VERY curious to see what lurks within…
Here’s all the text off of the label (click image to enlarge), scanned in meticulously. Quite a bit of text!
Packet number one – feels like soup base and veggies.
Sure is – and there are your spring onions!
Here’s the seasoned oil – packet number two!
One little blob of greasy wonder.
Okay here we go – a retort pouch! Fried Eel With Spicy Sauce! This is not textured vegetable protein – according to the ingredients thar be eel inside! Awesome! I have had freshwater eel sushi before (unagi) and love it – it’s my favorite. Hopefully this is good too!
The noodle block is austere and is like a throne for the flavors about to be unleashed.
Finished (click image to enlarge). This is in it’s unchanged state with no additions. Yes, in the middle that is the eel. First, the noodles. They have a decent texture and are flat and slightly broader than a standard instant noodle – good stuff. The broth is full of flavors – spiciness from the eel sauce, some onion notes and a good saltiness. The vegetables are pretty good – wish they were a little bigger but all in all they’re nice. Finally, the eel. It is wonderful – much better than I expected. It ties everything together and adds a nice flavor. If you haven’t had eel before, it’s a very light tasting meat and this being my first time tasting a cooked eel, it has the texture of a slightly chewy tuna and almost a hint of that flavor. It works very well. This was a good bowl of noodles – I think I saw more of this line at 99 Ranch here in town so I’m going to see what else they have. This man found the Man Han Feast to be really good! 4.25 out of 5.0 stars! UPC barcode 4710088100368
Bo H., who lives abroad in China decided he’d send some nice Chinese varieties! He warned that it might take a long time – they were shipped May 8th and arrive today, June 27th!
Oh wow what’s in here?
Wow – they did REALLY well despite travelling for a month and a half in the mail! Most are Master Kong, one is Unif and one I’m not sure. Hoping these can get translated – I want to make sure they’re prepared correctly and to know what they are! Thank you very much, Bo! Some Ramen Ramter stickers will be on their way to you soon!
Here’s the first review of the batch of six instant noodles sent to me by Bo H. of China! This one looks really interesting; I’m not 100% sure that this is the correct title either, but this is the best translation I could get. I wonder who that guy is?
Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge). I couldn’t find any direction on how to cook so I’m going to go with 400mL boiling water, add noodles and seasoning powder, then when done add the pickled beef on top.
Here’s a larger chunk of the noodles. They came from China and took a month and a half, so they fared pretty well.
Here’s the stuff. I think this one might have real beef as opposed to the big cup version.
Finished (click image to enlarge). Added a few pieces of onion. The noodles are good – they have a decent texture and a good character. Not chewy but soft – not mushy though. The broth has a very nice flavor – spicy and flavorful! The veggies and pickled stuff is all over and has a very nice flavor. This is excellent stuff – really good! I love it – 4.75 out of 5.0 stars – very good!UPC bar code 6925303773915 .
Spicy beef! This was sent by Bo H. of China! Thanks again! These have all been a lot of fun and quite good! Let’s see how Master Kong’s Spicy Beef goes.
The back of the package (click image to enlarge). Looks like they grow big peppers in china.
The block broke but not too badly.
Powdered base.
A decent amount of powder – tasty!
Seasoned oil.
Has a beefish smell.
The veggie packet – more of an herb packet it looks like.
I think the red pieces are chillies. Not sure about the other bits.
Finished (click image to enlarge). I added some onions, broccoli and re bell pepper, a slice of processed cheese, a fried egg and some of that awesome Dua Belibis hot sauce. The noodles are good – they suck up a lot of liquid and are tasty to boot. The broth is nice too – had a spicy and sweet taste to it and the beef flavor is very good. I like this a lot – 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 6903252061024 .
Yes! Awesome commercial!
This is awesome – these guys aren’t screwing around with these noodles!
I have absolutely no idea about this one. First off, it’s been quite a while since I’ve had a Unif Tung-I pack. Second, I usually don’t like bean thread. Third, Tong Tsai? What’s that? Well, I’m not sure.
Here’s the back of the packaging. Click to enlarge.
Here’s the block of bean thread.
Powdered seasoning.
Looks like there are bits in there. Upon a little taste I get sweet, salty, onion? Garlic?
Seasoned oil packet.
Looks good and weird. I have somewhat high hopes of this being an interesting one.
Finished (click image to enlarge). Look rather art-like with the curves toward the top and little bubbles towards the bottom. The noodles are thin and funky as bean thread usually is. It is also really long and hard to break off with your lips. I went the kitchen scissor route and cut them. Much easier to eat that way! The broth is salty and kind of greasy with hints of garlic, onion, maybe shallots too. I am surprised; I liked this one and actually ate all of it! 3.5 out of 5.0 stars – fascinating! UPC bar code 073217060228 – get it here.
If my kid did this, they’d be grounded. Period. Also, it’s ramen – rah-men.
